Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10/15/26
Scarlett, Inc. (“Scarlett,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) sells and services new and used industrial machinery, parts, and tooling. This policy explains what information we collect when you use scarlettinc.com, shop our online store, fill out one of our forms, or otherwise contact us, and what we do with it. Our text message program has its own SMS Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and quote requests. When you use a form on our site, such as the contact form or a request to reorder a part, we collect what you enter: usually your name, company, email address, phone number, and message.
- Reports from our online tools. If you ask one of our calculators to send you a report, we collect your name, email address, and, if you give them, your company and the Scarlett representative you work with, along with the answers you entered.
- Orders. When you buy from our online store, checkout is handled by Shopify. It collects your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and payment details. Payment card numbers are processed by Shopify and its payment processors; we never see or store them.
- Text updates. If you sign up for text updates, we collect your mobile number and any name, company, or email you add, plus a record of your consent. Details are in our SMS Privacy Policy.
- Emails and calls. Anything you send us when you email, call, or visit.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our site, we and our service providers collect:
- Your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location (country or region, worked out from your IP address), and the site that referred you
- The pages you view and how you use them, for example searches in our store, items added to or removed from your cart, starting checkout, clicks on our phone number or email links, use of our calculators, and links followed from our articles
- If you arrive from one of our Google ads, the ad click identifier Google adds to the link
How much of this is linked to cookies depends on your choice in our cookie banner. See Cookies and similar technologies below.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions and prepare quotes
- To process, ship, and support your orders, including returns and payments
- To schedule and provide service on your equipment
- To send the reports, confirmations, and other messages you ask for
- To send news about machinery, events, and offers by email, if you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand how our site is used and improve it, and to measure how well our advertising works
- To keep our site and forms secure and to block spam and abuse
- To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. When you first visit, our cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Until you click Accept, those cookies are not set. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookieyes-consent | CookieYes | Necessary. Remembers your cookie choice. | 1 year |
| cartId | Scarlett (Shopify cart) | Necessary. Keeps the items in your shopping cart. | Session |
| _ga, _ga_6LWPH2MBMZ | Google Analytics | Analytics. Counts visits and tells repeat visitors apart. Only after you accept. | Up to 2 years |
| _gcl_au, IDE | Google Ads | Advertising. Measures ad results and lets us show our ads to past visitors. Only after you accept. | 90 days to 2 years |
A few related things worth knowing:
- Google Consent Mode. Our Google tags run in Consent Mode. If you haven’t accepted cookies, they set no cookies but still send Google limited, cookieless signals (such as the page address, time, and browser details) that Google uses to estimate visits and ad results in aggregate.
- Vercel Web Analytics. Our hosting provider, Vercel, measures page views and site speed without cookies. It identifies a visit with a non-reversible code that changes daily and does not track you across sites.
- Embedded content. Videos on our site load from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player only after you click play; once you do, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies. Our contact page shows a Google map, and our contact and reorder forms are provided by Tally; both load from those companies when you view the page.
- Checkout. The checkout pages are hosted by Shopify, which sets its own cookies under its privacy policy.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies will stop the cart from working.
Advertising and analytics from Google
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site and Google Ads to advertise. If you accept cookies, Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to show you our ads on other sites based on your past visits to ours, and Google may collect information about your activity across different websites over time. To learn how Google uses this information, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of personalized ads in Google’s Ad Settings or at optout.aboutads.info, and out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Do Not Track
There is no common standard for how websites should respond to a browser’s “Do Not Track” signal, so our site does not change its behavior when it receives one. You can still turn off analytics and advertising cookies with our cookie banner or the Cookie settings link.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your personal information for money. We share it only as described here:
- Service providers that run parts of our business for us and may use the information only to provide those services: Shopify (online store and checkout), Vercel (website hosting and cookieless analytics), Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager, Maps, and YouTube), CookieYes (cookie consent), Tally (website forms), Telnyx (text messages), and the email, accounting, shipping, and business software we use to run the company
- Machinery manufacturers whose equipment we sell or service, when needed to quote, order, deliver, register a warranty for, or support your equipment
- Legal reasons: when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Scarlett, our customers, or others
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business
Marketing emails
If you’ve agreed to hear from us, you can stop marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link in any of them, or by asking us using the contact details below. We will still send messages about orders, service, and requests you’ve made.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the reasons above. Customer, order, and service records are kept for as long as you do business with us and afterward as long as tax, accounting, and warranty obligations require. Records of consent to text messages, including opt-outs, are kept for at least four years. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of the services listed above.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, and our site is served only over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop sending you marketing emails or text messages
To make a request, email sales@scarlettinc.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or call 616-871-9889. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request and respond within 45 days. We may keep information we are required to keep by law, such as order and tax records and records of your text message consent or opt-out. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Children
Our site and store are meant for businesses and adults. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
Scarlett is based in the United States, and your information is processed here. Some of our service providers process information in other countries; for example, our form and cookie consent providers are based in Europe.
Other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as machinery manufacturers and social networks. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our site and business change. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the effective date at the top.
