How the SawStop safety system works
The blade detects skin
The blade carries a small electrical signal that the safety system continually monitors. When skin contacts the blade, the signal changes because the human body is conductive, and the change activates the safety system.
The brake fires in milliseconds
A heavy-duty aluminum brake springs into the spinning blade, the blade's angular momentum drives it beneath the table removing any risk of further contact, and power to the motor shuts off, all within milliseconds.
Reset in about five minutes
Resetting the saw is easy: replace the single-use brake cartridge and blade, and you're back to work in about five minutes.
